What is Sender ID?
Sender ID is a SMS short code currently regulated by Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Sender ID is alphanumeric code 2 to 11 characters in length. Additional length and formatting rules for Sender ID include:
Cannot consist only of numbers.
Cannot have a space or underscore at the beginning or end.
Must use standard ASCII characters (decimal codes 32–126)
Every organisation that sends SMS on behalf someone else can only do so by registering a unique Sender ID with both their SMS provider and ACMA. This means that Salestrekker (or anyone else) cannot user user's own phone number as a Sender ID.
Sender ID is a no-reply SMS, i.e. it can only be broadcasted out of the system.

Setting up own Sender ID
Organisations cannot register Sender ID outside the process below. Sender ID is telco specific and needs to be processed via Salestrekker ecosystem. Previously approved Sender IDs outside this process will not work.
The set up process is as follows:
Default Sender ID for all organisations is STUpdate.
Organisations that want their own Sender ID need to contact Salestrekker team via office@salestrekker.com to commence the process.
A non-refundable, once off admin fee of $500+GST is payable to Salestrekker Trading Pty Ltd prior to registration commencement.
Salestrekker applies on behalf od the organisation owner to our telco provider.
Salestrekker telco provider will commence the process, which includes verifying organisation owner's identity.
Once approved by our telco, they will notify ACMA.
ACMA will contact organisation owner, who will need to complete a separate form and complete verification of organisation/owner's identity via mygovID
Once approved, ACMA will notify organisation owner via an email.
Once our telco confirms that approval was affected on their end, Salestrekker staff will enter new Sender ID in organisation's setting and notify organisation owner.
